Badsport Fishing Team is a young team that enjoys the challenge and camaraderie of tournament and recreational fishing.  The team joined the Southern Kingfish Association in 2006 fishing limited events for the first few years while still experiencing some early successes.  In 2009 the team committed to a full SKA Division 5 tournament schedule in the 23’ & Under Class and decided to get serious about tournament fishing.  That desire and commitment paid dividends and yielded a spectacular season.  In 2009, the team opened the season with a 7th place overall, 37.45# king mackeral at the Kingbuster 400 in Saint Augustine, Florida.  The team followed up that finish with a 3rd place 23’ & Under, 31.5# king mackerel at the Ancient City Gamefish Association’s Kingfish Challenge in Saint Augustine, Florida.  Finally, the team rounded out the season and captured the title with a 1st place overall, 42.85# king mackerel in the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, the world’s largest king mackerel tournament.  The team captured the SKA Division 5, 23’ & Under title on the strength of a 111.8# three fish aggregate.  The spectacular 2009 season currently places Badsport Fishing Team 15th overall in the World Rankings as published by KingfishConnection.com and 1st place in the world among 23’ & Under teams.

In the 2009-2010 offseason the team decided to move up to the Open Class to provide a greater challenge, and boy did it work.  2010 was a learning experience but ultimately another great season with the team picking up a category win at the 1st Annual Jacksonville Fishing Rodeo and another strong finish in the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish tournament.  With the teams’ consistent fishing it was again invited to the SKA National Championship tournament for the second consecutive year.

Badsport Fishing Team continues to grow in experience and expand it’s network within the fishing community.  We truly enjoy our time together on the water and cherish our many great friendships within the fishing community.  Looking ahead Badsport Fishing Team will be competing in the NE Florida Wahoo Championship from February 5 – March 27 and will again compete in the SKA’s Division 5 tournament series.
